Comparative Analysis of Green Building Certification Systems in Sustainable Design: BEST-DGNB

Sustainability is one of the most emphasized issues of today, where solutions are tried to be produced both nationally and internationally. This concept; It has a generally accepted definition as meeting the needs of today without compromising the needs of future generations. Building activities, on the other hand, have a high level of impact on sustainability in many aspects, both in construction, use and after use. For this reason, certification systems that determine the organization of these activities and the criteria for sustainability have been established and become widespread. There is a system developed by almost every country except the ones that are widely used today. However, it is thought that certification systems can achieve success in terms of sustainability by attaching equal importance to ecological, economic and social sustainability, known as the triple plate of sustainability. DGNB, known as the German Sustainable Building Certificate among the commonly used certification systems, is built on this balanced distribution. Turkey can be considered at an early stage in terms of this work. Green Building Association, sustainable building certification system is now being used in Turkey, which in the Ecological and Sustainable Building Design (BEST) has developed the certificate. BEST certificate has a balanced distribution to ecological, economic and social sustainability in the context of the category and criteria it contains. In this study, BEST and DGNB are compared comparatively over this triple balance.
