An Alternative Solution Offer for Post-Earthquake Temporary Shelter Units: WikiGEB
Turkey is exposed to natural disasters such as primarily earthquakes, landslides, floods, rock falls and avalanches due to its geological, meteorological and topographical structure. Examination of natural disasters which are causing loss of life and property, earthquakes are natural disasters that resulted in the highest number of victims in Turkey. On the other hand, concept of seismic zone has been eliminated to remark to the dangers in the whole of Turkey. In this context, the studies about improvement of earthquake disaster countermeasures, as well as organization and implementation of earthquake disaster responses are very important for Turkey. This study considers national and international standards for muster points and designing criterias for temporary shelter areas regarding health, safety and comfort and develops an alternative design and application for post-earthquake temporary shelter units. The aim of the study is to provide a practice, healthy, comfortable, sustainable and economical solution to the disaster victims with the 'WikiHouse' building technology developed by digital technologies. 'WikiHouse' is generated CNC manufacturing of compressed particle boards, can be demountable and transported by packaging, simple, fast, light, high performance, a digitally generated building system and a new building technology. WikiGEB, which is named by the abbreviation of 'WikiHouse' and 'temporary accommodation', is developed in accordance with the design inputs obtained for ecological and alternative post-earthquake temporary shelter units. |
