Investigation of the Golden Ratio - Aesthetic Relationship in the Occupancy-Vacancy Ratios of Behram Pasha Mosque Facades
It is seen that there is an aesthetic quest in the design of many architectural works throughout history, and as a result of this quest, the architectural works are shaped in size and proportion, drawing attention to the harmony of parts and whole. As part of the studies conducted, it is largely believed that the ratio and measure are provided by the Fibbonacci sequence of numbers that exist in nature, and the Golden Ratio, which is the result of this sequence, was discovered, and in studies of nature and man, aesthetics are also associated with the number of the Golden Ratio. From micro to macro, when all beings in the universe are examined in their aesthetic aspects, it is seen that they also contain important elements for architectural structures in their structures. In this context, it is thought that aesthetic integrity can be achieved by the composition of certain sizes and proportions in the facades designed in the field of architecture. In this case, it is very important that the ratio of the spaces created by the facade elements that make up the facade with the filled areas is measured and balanced. The number of the golden ratio has also been used throughout history as an important element in ensuring aesthetic integrity on the facade of many buildings. In this study, the relationship between the golden ratio value and the aesthetic aspect of the facades, which are the aesthetic face of the structures, was evaluated by considering the occupancy - space ratios. The study is considered within the scope of Ottoman period architecture, which has included important masterpieces in the field of architecture throughout history and where aesthetic elements have found a great place on the facades. As part of the study, the occupancy - gap ratios of the Behram Pasha Mosque facades, one of the mosques of the Ottoman period in Diyarbakir, were determined and their proximity to the golden ratio value was determined. The values analyzed according to facades; it is aimed to emphasize the effect of the golden ratio in increasing aesthetic perception in new designs that will be considered through the relationship of aesthetics with the Golden Ratio. |
