Reassessment of School Gardens with Landscape Design, Example of Trabzon Prof Ihsan Koz Primary School

 

One of the biggest problems of our age is that the level of consciousness towards nature is not sufficient. Education at childhood is very important in order to re-establish our lost communication with nature, to ensure efficient use of resources and to instill this awareness in the whole society. Although education starts with parents, most of it is provided by educational institutions. For this reason, garden areas owned by educational institutions are very important in the development of consciousness levels as well as the physical and mental development of students. Although most school gardens have sufficient physical space, they lack natural areas. Within the scope of the study, Prof. In the sample of İhsan Koz Primary School, an unused idle area determined in the school yard can be turned into a functional, sustainable and environmentally friendly area with recycled materials with small financial support and an application in which students can be included. The project was implemented with the facilities of the school, the participation of teachers, parents and students. It has been thought that with the opportunities provided by the project, the quality of applied and theoretical education can be increased, physical-mental development, nature, sustainability and recycling awareness can be increased.
