An Eco Furniture Model Recommendation for Hotel Rooms
In the tourism sector, whose continuity depends on the quality of the environment, environmental protection is sometimes kept in the foreground; It is possible to encounter applications that reduce environmental quality. Especially, one of the main elements of the tourism sector, hotels must approach the environment and sustainability meticulously in all aspects, from consumables to equipment and building groups. It can be observed that a large part of the hotels consist of the sleeping part and the hotel rooms in this part. In hotel rooms, it is seen that the furniture group occupies a large space in the room. Therefore, the sustainability of the furniture group in the hotel rooms will reduce the environmental impact of the hotel and tourism, which is one of its components. In this study, sustainable room furniture model proposal for hotel furniture is presented. In this study; an eco-design study was carried out for hotel room furniture components based on environmental effects have been previously determined for 15 hotels with the help of Ccalc environmental analysis program and surveys. Model suggestions have been developed by applying brainstorming and benefit-loss techniques for eco-design strategies such as material conversion, combining functions and reducing materials used in each furniture group. In the process, studies have been carried out by taking into consideration the life span, which is considered for eco-design. The resulting model proposal will serve as a guide for tourism industry managers and furniture manufacturers in cooperation with this industry. |
