A Research on Entryway Decoration and User Design Preferences in Residences

The Entryway, which is the first part of the residences opening to the outside world, contains important clues about the place itself and its users. Understanding the elements that shape the opinions and preferences of residential users about the interior design of the entryway is important in terms of creating user-friendly furniture, furnishings, and interior designs. Also, the correct reading of user opinions and preferences is beneficial for designers as well as producers and marketers related to the decoration industry. In this study, different demographic users living in Kayseri of Turkey examined opinions and preferences related to entryway interior decoration, entryway furniture, and furnishings. Also, the effects of the gender factor on the preferences and attitudes of these users were examined. Descriptive statistical methods were used to analyze research data. Results are presented with the help of tables and graphics. Some results of the study are as follows; Individuals in Kayseri prefer mostly white and white tones and modern simple-looking decoration style in the interior decoration of the entryway. In addition, it was determined that these individuals attach importance to the color, shape, and design of the furniture, lighting elements and walls in the interior decoration of the entryway. The designers and companies operating in the fields of interior architecture and decoration should pay attention to the preferences of the users. In this study, it is recommended that they design and produce furniture, furnishings, and decorative accessories in color, style, and function that suit the users' preferences.
