Improvement of the Spatial Accessibility Level for the Barrier-Free Campus; Faculty of Engineering and Surroundings in Pamukkale University

In this research, it is aimed to make the circulation / movement in and around the building block A and B of the Faculty of Engineering in Pamukkale University campus convenient and accessible for everyone. Primarily, laws, regulations, zoning plans regarding the arrangement of open and semi-open areas for each individual user; scientific studies done on the subject in Turkey and in the world; national legislation, The Law on the Disabled and the standards prepared by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) were examined for the analysis in terms of accessibility. In order to evaluate the accessibility of the physical space, methods have been developed to determine the level of accessibility and compliance with the accessibility criterion based on mathematical evaluation. The method of determining the accessibility level / potential based on mathematical evaluation has been developed for the assessment of accessibility of the space. Accordingly, conformity values were determined in the areas determined by taking into account 11 criteria. Accessibility level map of the research area was created. As a result, the research area was found to be accessible and partially accessible. It has been determined that it is necessary for the area to be fully accessible and used by all, its deficiencies should be overcome, improvements should be made, and its quality should be increased. Visual data supported solution suggestions for bringing these areas to an appropriate level in terms of accessibility have been put forward in line with the standards.
