Evaluation of the Climate Comfort Satisfacton in Traditional Houses of Diyarbakır Suriçi Region

 

The comfort conditions of the places where people live are measured by being able to live healthy by feeling physically and psychologically comfortable. The most important parameters affecting climatic comfort are personal and environmental factors. Planning of buildings by considering environmental factors is effective in creating comfort conditions in the building. Climatic comfort conditions in the building can be achieved by minimizing the negative effects of any physical environmental conditions related to heat, water and moisture. Comfort in buildings is only possible with the protection of people from the negative conditions of the climate in the places they live and by ensuring the climatic comfort conditions in the inner environment by controlling the external climate conditions. From this perspective, traditional settlements are characterized by their compatibility with local climatic conditions in terms of materials and planning. The traditional courtyard houses in the Suriçi area of Diyarbakır were built with basalt, the local material, and were planned to adapt to the climatic characteristics of the region. However, it has been observed that structural deterioration and problems have occurred over time due to usage errors, incomplete maintenance and repair. In particular, heat, water and moisture problems cause structural problems and also negatively affect the thermal comfort conditions of building users. The aim of this study is to determine the thermal comfort conditions in traditional buildings and to determine the problems affecting the comfort conditions negatively. It is important to identify these problems and develop solutions to preserve the original character of the traditional settlement pattern. For this purpose, comfort satisfaction in the houses was measured by conducting interviews and surveys with the building users and the existing comfort conditions in the building interior spaces were evaluated within the framework of energy economy.
