In this study, in order to determine the environmental preferences of the residents in nursing home; A three-stage research method was developed. In the first and second stages, study area and sample selection were made. Accordingly, Artvin Murgul, Şavşat Naime İsmail Yavuz Nursing Home, Giresun Nursing Home, Ordu Ahmet Cemal Mağden Nursing Home, Rize Fındıklı Nursing Home, Trabzon Çamlık Nursing Home and Trabzon Pavilion Nursing Homes were selected from the nursing homes in the Eastern Black Sea Region. 130 participants were selected from among these seven nursing home residents with stratified and random sampling. In the third stage, environmental preferences of the nursing home residents were tried to be determined. In order to determine the environmental preferences, four forms of plants (columns, drooping, rounded and scattered) are shown to the residents of the nursing home and they were asked which ones they liked and preferred, and how they made sense of them according to their mental processes. As a result, they stated that the residents of the nursing home liked and preferred the plants with drooping form in terms of their form. The adjective pairs that they use the most while making sense of plants are irregular-regular, complex-plain, overwhelming-peaceful. If these likes and preferences of the nursing home residents are taken into consideration while designing the institutional gardens, environmental preference levels will increase.
