Investigation of Technology Adaptation Problems in the Construction Sector
Developments in information technologies in recent years have led to promising progress in the field of construction technologies. The developments in construction and management technologies have brought a new perspective to the sector. Today, there are technologies that support the construction sector stakeholders in many respects and new ones are added every day. These technologies include design, project management; time, cost and energy analysis and visualization. In addition, as a result of modernization changes in the qualities that users expect from the product, projects with large-scale, complex processes have accelerated. This understanding of construction that changes the shell increases the importance of information technologies in the construction sector day by day. However, we see that today's construction sector lags behind in adapting to these technologies. The sector, which tries to keep up with this change, albeit slowly, faces many resistance at this point. The aim of this study is to explain the adaptation problems encountered during the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and laser scanning technologies in the AEC industry which have developed rapidly as innovative approaches in the recent years. The research was conducted with the help of a questionnaire prepared in the light of the data obtained from the literature review. The findings were statistically explained and technology adaptation problems of the sector were revealed. |
