An investigation of Jean Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center and Its Details As a Local and an Innovative Building
In addition to the basic requirement of housing, environmental and user requirements and aesthetic expectations have increased in building design and production in recent years. This situation leads to the complexity of the architectural problems that are tried to be solved. Today, developing technology is used to reduce this complexity. With the advancement of technology, innovative solutions have been used in building production and detail solutions have been tried to be developed to reduce or prevent potential problems. On the other hand, the integration of the local with innovative solutions is another architectural problem of today. The solution of the problem gains importance in order to ensure the belonging of a functional working building to the place. In this study, Jean Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center is examined as a local and an innovative building. The architectural features of Renzo Piano, which is located in New Caledonia in the east of Australia, as well as the innovative materials and details used in the building are included in the study. The building technologies and methods used to integrate locality and innovation are discussed through the cultural center. In this sense, the literature about the building has been searched. By evaluating the solutions applied in the building, the factors that can be considered in the production of a similar building have been determined. |
