A Study on Old Doğubayazıt Government Office's Excavation Work
Old City of Doğubayazıt that was located at western hillside of the Ishak Pasha Palace has been growing rapidly towards west relocating to the current settlement area in the plateau since 1940s. The Old City at the western hillside of Ishak Pasha Palace was depopulated after 1955 and the area is registered as archaelogical protected area by the Ministry of Culture and tourism. Government Office for Doğubayazıt Province was built by local master builders in 1926. During recent years, many renovation and land use planning works have been done by various institutions and organizations in Doğubayazıt. Any survey or scientific study about the Government Office was not conducted so far because of its being underground entirely. Protection Project of the Government Office has been started in 2015 by Ağrı Governorate and Doğubayazıt District Governorate. All architectural protection projects and raports have been done by Directorate of Restoration Programme in Van Yüzüncü Yıl University's, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Department of Architecture and completed in the year of 2017. Restoration and Application projects of the Old Government Office are completed between the years 2017 and 2018 and its landscape and land use planning works have been continuing currently. |
