Evaluation of the Problems in the Pedestrianization on the Case of Konya-Zafer Square
As cities grow and population increases, the use of vehicles increases in urban areas, leading to traffic problems especially in urban centers. The design of the vehicles as the front and the rear as well as the design of the urban centers where the density is especially high are made for pedestrian use. These projects, which are carried out in many parts of the world, to separate pedestrian and vehicle traffic, to create meeting places, to provide shopping areas and to facilitate transportation. In this study; because it is the first pedestrian area in Konya and the other pedestrian area is an example in the Konya scale, the pedestrian area of Zafer Square was selected as a sample area. The change in Kazim Karabekir Caddesi, which is located in the center of Konya, which was closed to traffic in 2005 and opened to the use of pedestrians, as a result of the pedestrianization project was examined. In addition, the problems related to design, transportation, landscape, facade and building materials in today's area are documented with photographs under five headings. The photographs in the archives were used to determine the status of the study area prior to project. Today's current problems are directly identified through observation and analysis and supported by photographs. As a result, a solution to the problems in the intensely used pedestrian zone has been proposed. |
