Usage Possibilities of Prefabricated Concrete Panel Systems in Housing Production
In the study, which aims to create a guide source about prefabricated concrete panel systems used in housing production, prefabricated concrete panels were classified and analyzed under 3 headings as large, medium and small panels according to their sizes. When the analyses made in line with the determined 19 criteria (production place of the element, element type, material, common modular size, size limitation, weight, floor limitation, clearance that can be passed in the floor, design flexibility, surface feature, cost, transportation, assembly tools, workmanship, prefabrication degree, heat insulation, sound insulation, fire safety and sustainability) were evaluated, it was concluded that houses with low or multi-storey, high insulation, safe, wide span, suitable for recycling and low material consumption during the production phase can be produced with prefabricated concrete panels depending on their classes. In addition to these positive features, prefabricated large-size concrete panels have negative features such as design restrictions, high cost and requiring extensive transportation-assembly tools; while prefabricated small and medium-sized panels have high workmanship and cost. The study is aimed at the use of prefabricated concrete panels in architectural projects, static calculations are out of scope. |
