Design Knowledge in the Context of Information typesand its Importance in Academic Field in Turkey
In this study, it is aimed to define design knowledge in comparison with other types of knowledge and its importance in graduate education in Turkey was discussed. For this purpose, the nature of knowledge is emphasized and, in the most general sense, the distinction between philosophical and scientific knowledge is also discussed. In the production of scientific knowledge, scientific methods specific to social sciences and scientific fields are generally mentioned. Scientific based numerical methods based on numerical values and capable of accurate measurement are used in science. In social sciences, both qualitative and quantitative research methods are used. This study focuses on the nature of knowledge production method and field-specific knowledge in the field of design in today's paradigm, moving from the fundamental differences between the science of science and the social sciences. The opinions and evaluations reached will be used to examine the state of the information and design researches produced in the field of design in Turkey. The concept of "design thinking" which is rapidly evolving in the world where new approaches and trends change day by day is associated with the post graduate education in this study and it is aimed to recognize and identify the differences and characteristics of post graduate design knowledge at national scale.For these purposes, a research was carried out in the related fieldsand a framework for design information and the substitute for the production of post-graduate knowledge has been tried to be established from the point of view of the theorizing approach.The scope of the work is limited to design areas from an inductive point of view. Thus, it was aimed to shed light on the current state of design research in Turkey and in the process of production of design knowledge is bound postgraduate study structure were discussed in the context of subject. |
