Post-War Modernism: Römerstadt Residences and Frankfurt Cuisine

 

Post-War Modernism: Römerstadt Housing and Frankfurt Kitchen Germany had devastated after I. World War and it is known that economic problems had caused a trouble about housing. As a solution, public housing had started to build between 1925 and 1930 in Frankfurt. In house designs, it is seen that the technology utilization of modernism much. Especially, usage of electricity, usage of color, green designs came to the forefront as a housing modernism. The aim of this study is to mention about post-war modernism in the case of social housing and to investigate Römerstadt housing kitchens. As a methodology, Frankfurt Kitchen, which is used in Römerstadt houses and has an international reputation, is examined in the context of the social life of design, material, color, function, user relation. Römerstadt social housing project has gained prominence through the thinking of the smallest detail of everything and the design of Frankfurt Kitchen and usage of technology. As a result, the kitchen which designed by many association and group works is lead modular kitchens and has a big role in the progress of kitchens. In this study, the place and problems of the Frankfurt Kitchen are mentioned by exploring Römerstadt housing.
