Circulation with the Concept of Accessibility: The Case of Trabzon Forum Shopping Mall

 

Humans need spaces to realize their most basic needs. For this reason, people and space are in constant interaction. Interaction of man and man is very effective in shaping the spaces. It is also reflected in places where people are related to the environment. Relation to human structure and environment can be explained by environmental components. The relation of man to his environment gives rise to different spaces that are shaped to meet different needs. These are the shopping centers that bring the most effective food, drink, shopping and entertainment after the housing that meets the need for housing. Shopping malls; Have become indispensable parts of urban life, have become the most intense parts of human movements. It is seen that circulation spaces are the most important factor that will affect the design criteria in these structures where shopping, culture and entertainment concepts are gathered under one roof. Circulation is the main character of shopping centers. In addition to providing access to the venues, it also provides a visual impact with the aesthetic aspect that encourages people to shop. The most important concept to influence circulation areas is accessibility. Accessibility of people to places and availability of space for people are factors that directly affect the circulation system. In this study, the importance of the interaction between man and space is emphasized and the circulation system in the space has been examined from the point of view of the user with the concept of accessibility. Trabzon Forum Shopping Center, which is the most visited shopping center in Trabzon region, was selected and a two-stage study was conducted. As a result of the closed-ended questionnaire made to the visitors who preferred the Trabzon Forum Shopping Center, the circulation system parameters were reached through the plan diagram and the importance of accessibility was evaluated in terms of the circulation system.
