The Importance and Design Criteria of Regulation Areas in Educational Spaces for Children with Autism 

 

This study addresses the importance of sensory regulation spaces and their design criteria in educational environments for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The sensory sensitivities of children with ASD to environmental stimuli can lead to various challenges during their educational processes. In this context, regulation spaces emerge as critical areas that help children maintain their emotional and sensory balance. The study aims to define criteria for managing sensory sensitivities, creating safe spaces, and designing inclusive educational environments. Through a literature review, successful design examples that support the learning processes of children with ASD and the impact of these spaces on reducing stress levels are examined. The findings reveal that regulation spaces are significant tools not only for individual development but also for fostering social integration.
