Determining the Amount of Energy Consumed in Buildings According to Exterior Wall Type under the Climatic Conditions of Türkiye Using BIM Tools
The fact that a large portion of energy consumed arises from buildings and the global energy crisis has made energy efficient design important for the construction industry. Exterior walls are elements that separate interior and exterior spaces. The amount of energy consumed in buildings is directly related to their exterior walls. There are many types of exterior walls available to designers. In this study, it is aimed to determine the amount of energy consumed in buildings according to the exterior wall type under the climatic conditions of Türkiye using BIM tools. The study was conducted in five provinces selected to represent five different climatic regions in Türkiye. A two-storey residential building was designed to be used in the study. In the study, 12 external wall types were used, half of which were uninsulated and the other half were externally insulated. The building used in the study was modeled with the BIM-based Autodesk Revit program. Energy analyses were performed using Green Building Studio (GBS), a plug-in developed by Autodesk for energy-efficient design. The effects of selected exterior wall types on annual heating, cooling and total energy consumed in the building under the climatic conditions of all provinces within the scope of the study were evaluated under separate headings. Various suggestions were made based on the findings of the study. |
