The Impact of Spatial Organization in Shared Offices on Users’ Functional Evaluations

The study aims to examine the impact of interior space organization on user experience in shared offices, which have emerged in response to the changing dynamics of contemporary work life. As a case study, the CoZone shared office located in Ankara was selected, and users’ satisfaction levels and needs were evaluated with respect to spatial layout, furnishing elements, and components of aesthetic comfort. The survey developed as a data collection tool was administered to 166 users who exclusively used the co-working area and represented a diversity of age, gender, and educational backgrounds. The findings revealed a statistically significant difference regarding lighting adequacy by age variable; specifically, users in the 18–25 age group found the lighting to be more insufficient. As a result, a flexible, user-centered spatial organization with high sensitivity to privacy is proposed. The study is expected to contribute to the literature and serve as a guide for design practitioners.
