Proposing a Model to Highlight the Professional Footprint of Architects: The Motivation Source Model

This study aims to address the issues in the process of admission to the architectural profession and its practice in Turkey, and to develop a model proposal for the improvement of these processes. Deficiencies have been identified in architectural education and professional admission processes in Turkey To contribute to the resolution of these deficiencies, the proposed Motivation Source Model envisions the creation of a digital platform where the professional development of architects can be transparently tracked. This model will enable those seeking architectural services to find the architect who best meets their criteria, allow architects to monitor their own development, enable the Chamber of Architects to track its architect members, and allow architects to showcase their experience on a reliable and verifiable platform. The theoretical framework of the research is based on the view that the architectural profession should meet international standards and that the current processes do not meet these standards. Findings obtained through literature review and surveys demonstrate the importance of professional competence and experience in the selection of architects. The data analyzed with the SPSS program reveal the necessity and contributions of the proposed model. In conclusion, it is anticipated that the implementation of the Motivation Source Model will bring the architectural profession to a transparent and reliable structure that aligns with international standards, allowing those seeking architectural services to make more informed decisions.
