Designing for Simplicity: The Concept of Frugal and Simplicity in Product Design
Designing simplicity in the field of product design is a phenomenon that largely depends on the application approach and is related to the design, which is the result proposition. This is because the design phase offers many opportunities to fix flaws in the product at this initial conceptual level. Essentially, all stages of product design activities are woven with monetary activities, including production and cost steps, with a parameter of none. For this reason, design thinking activities in which economical design activities are handled with simplicity approaches in product design offer a very valuable feature. Since the phenomenon of frugality in design depends on strict restrictions on resource consumption, the design process offers the opportunity to eliminate as many "excessive, unnecessary, gratuitous" details as possible in order to facilitate the subsequent engineering of the frugal product. Therefore, the design process is very important for frugal products, and at this point, it is considered important to introduce the concept of thriftiness in product design and make it understandable in terms of design approaches. This article examines the details of frugal product design approaches in the field of product design and outlines the design approaches and principles related to the concept of simplicity and designing for simplicity. |
