The Role of Public Gardens in Urban Transformation Project Implementations
Urban spaces are worn out over time due to increasing population, natural disasters, unplanned construction and various problems that occur as a result. This situation has brought urban regeneration projects to the agenda to ensure restructuring by adhering to contemporary urbanism principles and planning principles. In our country and around the world, cities need projects and practices aimed at renewal, regeneration and improvement due to reasons such as economic reasons, migrations, overpopulation, wrong location selection and natural disasters. Within the changing urban morphology today; parks and gardens have become places squeezed into small areas, have not been able to show the same resistance to the increasing pressure of urbanization and construction, and have faced the danger of extinction or destruction. While urban regeneration efforts have gained momentum and cities are being reshaped, open and green areas within the city or areas where green will be used intensively can be transformed into National Gardens for healthy cities. With the right design and site selection decisions, providing the qualified open and green spaces that the city and its citizens need will be possible with the National Gardens and will also contribute to the development of green fields. |
