Facade Analysis of Traditional Houses in Gümüşhane City: Bağlarbaşı Neighborhood Example

 

The disappearance of traditional houses, which were shaped according to the lifestyle and environmental realities of the period in which they were built, with today's rapid construction processes and increasing housing production, brings with it many problems. However, traditional houses, which were created by taking into account environmental data, cultural inputs and many other parameters, provide many significant data that will guide the formation of the new building culture. his study, which was conducted on the facade analysis of registered houses in Bağlarbaşı (Sorda-Eskibağlar District), one of the neighborhoods in the city center, which is included in the cultural inventory prepared by Gümüşhane Governorship (GKE, 2016: 48-52), was carried out on 5 registered examples. In the determination studies carried out on the facades of the selected houses, two separate typological analyzes were made: the general characteristics of the houses (type of use, originality, number of floors, house-garden-road relationship) and the facade features (entrance layout, doors, windows). The method stages in this study, which is based on typological analysis, are data collection, documentation, analysis, and evaluation. The determinations made on the facades of traditional houses in the study area are intended to have an archival quality, considering the rapid change in the urban texture.
