A Review of Sustainable Building Renovation Methods
While new building activities cause occupation of a large area in nature and high amount of energy waste, interventions for the use of existing structures and ensuring their continuation of life are a sustainable method. Preventing energy consumption for demolishing the existing structure, using the existing building mass defined as concrete energy and renewing the structure in accordance with sustainable architecture principles and continuing their lives without harming the environment are found positive. In addition, the continuation of life of buildings also ensures that cultural accumulations belonging to the past and present are transmitted to the future together. Reuse of existing structures is one of the important steps within the scope of sustainable development and with the ideas it has, it is also an example for new sustainable goals. In the study, a literature review was conducted with qualitative research method and research was conducted on the renovation of buildings, energy efficiency, heating systems, ensuring energy efficiency in cultural heritage structures and building renovation systems. In line with these concepts, sustainable application methods were brought together through research studies conducted within the scope of sustainable building renovation applications. The studies include suggestions and evaluations for the sustainable renovation of buildings. In this context, by bringing together the applications that can be made for sustainable building renovation, suggestions have been developed as a path to follow for sustainable building renovation. |
