Building Information Modeling Applications in Disaster Managemet
Information and communication technologies designed for disaster management aim to provide the necessary information for better planning and coordination during an ongoing crisis. In this context, it is natural that Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology, which is developed to accommodate all data related to buildings, is also used in the field of disaster and emergency management. This study reviews research articles on developing new technologies using BIM-based systems in the field of disaster management, classifies these studies according to the stages of disaster management and technologies used, and describes four important examples that have reached end users. It provides a framework for future research and application areas, emphasizing the benefits of incorporating BIM technology into disaster management strategies. It is seen that BIM-based data can provide critical building information to rescue teams and contribute to reducing security risks by increasing the efficiency of the response. The transition to BIM-based systems is important for city authorities to increase the resilience of our cities. |
