Use of Marbling Art as a Method in Interior Ceramic Surface Design
Material is one of the important spatial components in interior design. Material has different functions in terms of providing spatial integrity from structural details to aesthetics in interior space and creating a concept structure. Ceramic material is one of the materials used in many spaces such as living, sleeping and working, especially in wet areas in interior space. It can be said that ceramic material has qualities that add aesthetic value to the space in addition to its functional features such as resistance to moisture, long life and being economical. The surface design of ceramic transforms it into an aesthetic object in the space beyond its functional purposes. Colors and patterns are used in ceramic surface designs without any restrictions. The subject of this study is the use of marbling art in order to eliminate the concerns of designers who are stuck between the endless options and the absence of restrictions in creating original compositions. The method of the study is a research method developed from design-based research methods. The study aims to transfer the unique character of marbling art to ceramic surface designs. In the findings section of the study, marbling art products were created and transferred to ceramic surfaces using digital methods. Dimensional evaluations were made regarding these ceramics and suggestions for use in interior spaces were given with three-dimensional visualizations. At the end of the study, it was concluded that the use of marbling art products in ceramic surface design increased design alternatives in the production of fluid and curved forms and had the potential to create original motifs and patterns on ceramic surfaces. |
