Sustainable Building Design; A Case Study by Building Information Modeling

The increasing energy needs of today's buildings with high efficiency reduces fossil resources rapidly. Maximum energy is spent to ensure climatic comfort in the usage phase, which is the biggest component of the life cycles of buildings. Precautions can be taken in order to reduce the energy consumed. Computer-aided simulation programs used today in the construction industry, where early design measures are so important, come into play and provide cost and time savings in the production phase, user satisfaction and longevity advantages in the use phase by providing the opportunity to test with alternatives over existing designs. With pre-production simulations in virtual reality environment of the three-dimensional models produced in this study; The library structure named Kommagene-Focus was modeled in the BIM environment and energy analyzes were carried out with the Autodesk-Insight energy simulation program in order to prove how effectively it can be used from time, budget and energy in both construction, use and recycling stages, while designing energy efficient structures, where possible disruptions, energy losses can be reduced, energy dependence can be avoided. The analyzes performed with the available data were repeated with different scenarios applied on the model. As a result of the study, it was associated with the issue of energy conservation and saving in buildings and the benefits of the use of BIM technology for this cycle were emphasized.
