A Survey on Preservation, Project and Applications for Old Government House of Muş

 

Old Government House of Muş is located in the Minare Quarter of central Muş. The Government House is surrounded by attached plot from south and by roads from north, east and west. The building was designed as a two-storey, rectangular layout with hipped roof and inner yard. Old Government House of Muş is under the Ministry of Finance’s property ownership and does not have an inscription. A contractor and a sponsor is not known for the building that had been built in the year of 1950. It has been utilized as Old Government House until 1975 and then served as Muş High School by Provincial Directorate of National Education and Alpaslan Medical High School until 2009 by educational purposes. Old Government House of Muş is registered as monumental civic architecture in the year of 1990. The building has been using as Muş Municipal Services Building today over a functional change and renovation between years of 2016 and 2017. Old Government House of Muş was built simply to the extreme and pitch-faced stone, rubblestone, mosaics, metal and wood are used as the construction material. Old Government House of Muş is important from the aspect of being a public building as much as from architectural aspect, in the society’s past. It is quite important utilization of the building where Muş people’s social, cultural, joyful and woeful experiences have occured during historical process. Old Government House of Muş has been contributing to found a bridge that is important on transferring architectural culture from past to today and future and to leading cultural accumulation for next generations considerably and will continue to do so.
