Application of the Data Mining Association Rule in the Construction Industry: Evaluation of Buildings Certified with Different LEED Versions
One of the digital transformation concepts, data mining, which is used in the process of transforming data into information by establishing various patterns, comes to the fore with the developments. The useful information obtained from the accumulated data in the construction sector will be useful for the construction sector to be a reference for the buildings to be built in the future. For the mentioned benefit, the use of data mining stands out. In this study, the LEED certification system, which is one of the energy-efficient design applications among the certificate systems with large data capacity, was chosen as the research subject, and the reflection of the changes in the V3 and V4 versions on the architectural designs of the structures in this certificate system, which is based on energy conservation, was analyzed with the rule of association. As a result, the highest correlation was found in the LEED BD+C V3 version, with the increased ventilation credit and innovative wastewater technologies credits together with the water use reduction credit. In LEED BD+C V4 version, also the density of the areas surrounding the most relationship and the loan for different uses and high priority areas were determined together with the access to quality transportation loan. It is thought that these data obtained by data mining method will benefit the stakeholders in the construction sector in making more effective decisions from the beginning to the end of the energy efficient design process. |
