The Relationship of Textile Products Changing with the Industrial Revolution with Art and Interior Design
Textile materials as ancient as the existence of human beings are known to occur as a result of man's need to protect himself from environmental factors and cover the body. In the interior, it is an important element that equips the furniture and the space, affects the user’s actions and contributes greatly to the interior design. Textiles are an aesthetic element as well as contributing to the interior in terms of health and comfort. The use of textile material as a design element in the interior, dates back to the industrial revolution. As a result of the mechanization and mass production activities experienced by the industrial revolution, the production technique and the quality of textile materials have been differentiated, giving the first examples of textile design. That textile products have changed history; the purpose of use, usage area and meaning attributed to these products change over time. In this context, the design of textile products is affected by many factors such as the cultural structure of societies, technological advancements, economic, political and religious factors. In this respect, in terms of the design of textiles and the quality of the material used in these products, it can be said that textiles continue to exist as a cultural element with social values. Textiles products used interior; is used in furniture flooring, curtains, carpets, floors and wall coverings in terms of creating atmosphere, improving comfort conditions, adding health and aesthetic. In this research, the change of textile products under the influence of the conditions created by the industrial revolution, and, in parallel, the relationship of textile with art and interior design were examined. |
