Shah Ali Mosque (Harman Mosque): Evaluation of Eretna Period Mosques Specific to Kayseri
Outbuildings define auxiliary structures containing spaces, which are constructed to undertake functions that houses do not undertake in traditional rural settlements. In this context, sheepfolds and barns, haylofts, woodsheds/dung sheds/coal bunkers and warehouses, which are directly related to the house, can be listed first and foremost in rural areas where people generally make a living from agriculture and animal husbandry. In this study, warehouse structures located in İskilip district of Çorum province, which were constructed entirely of wood with qualified workmanship and using the shed technique and which have managed to survive with their original qualities to this day, are discussed. These structures, whose process of disappearing is accelerating day by day since no documentation or protection work has been carried out until today, constitute an important part of rural culture and life dynamics. Within the scope of the study, examinations were carried out in the villages of İskilip district of Çorum province, and warehouse structures with their original qualities were identified and documented. Within the scope of the documentation carried out, spatial arrangements of the structures, traditional construction systems and construction materials were systematically explained with measured drawings created as a result of photographs, measurements and examinations; It was evaluated from a typological perspective. Comparisons were made with warehouse structures in the world and in our country and inferences were made regarding general warehouse architecture. This study aims to document these original structures that have survived from the past to the present against the possibility of their destruction due to human and geographical reasons and thus to ensure the continuity of their structural integrity and their transfer to the future. |
