Investigation of the Concept of Place-Specific in Architectural Design on Ayvacık Residences After the Year 2000
The concept place specific has been a data shaping and guiding architectural designs for centuries. As a result of industrialization, modernism and rapid urbanization, the housings have detached from the context of the place, isolated from history, and they have started to not give the needs of users. Looking at the historical process, it is seen that the housings designed with place specific data are qualified for the users. It is seen that these housings are environmentally friendly designs that protect the identity of the place where they are located, taking into account the needs of the users. In this framework, the aim of the article is; To examine the concept of place specific, to determine place specific data through location specific approaches in housing designs, and to examine these data through new housings in the old texture. For this purpose as a study area, an old house example in Çanakkale Ayvacık district, which has preserved its identity for centuries, was examined and the SM House, Çoker House and Kenter House, which were built after the year 2000, were examined through natural data and sociocultural data. These natural and sociocultural data consists respectively topography, climate, environmental image, community and family structure, and architectural language parameters. By creating tables with the obtained data and evaluations, have been made comparisons between the old and new housing design. As a result of the evaluations, it is seen that the place should be examined in its own context and the designs of being unique to the place should be reflected in the housing designs with flexible elements, not within the framework of certain rules or by analogy. |
