Concepts of Flexibility and Changeability in Mass Housing Design
The need for shelter, which started with the existence of humanity, has always been among the most basic needs. In order to feel happy and peaceful in the space they live in, people want to make the space suitable for their own lifestyles or their changing desires over time with various organizations and arrangements. Like many other types of spaces, housing, where the need for shelter is met, has also changed in accordance with the spirit of the times. In this period when individual housing production has decreased and multiple production has increased, the starting point of this study is to examine the concepts of user-oriented flexibility and changeability by considering the diversity in the living habits of different users in housing design and to create a usable resource that will enable these concepts to be addressed as a part of the process during the design phase of the space. In this context, projects and ideas made in different dimensions will be put forward for the development of systems open to user intervention so that the individual can identify the house with himself and make it his “home”. User-interactive solution methods will be examined by considering the problems and solution approaches that have occurred during the historical development process of mass housing. In this context, the possibilities that the concepts of flexibility and changeability can provide in mass housing will be evaluated. |
