Covid-19 Pandemisinin Mimarlık Eğitimine Etkileri Üzerine bir Araştırma

ÖZET Son dönemde 2003’den bu yana SARS (Covid-1) ile başlayan üç adet virüs kökenli salgını yaşadık. En son salgın olan Covid-19 diğerlerin çok daha fazla geniş bir coğrafyada etkili olarak uzun bir dönem neredeyse tüm dünyadaki yaşamın ve ekonomilerin durmasına neden oldu. Halen birçok ülkede etkileri farklı ölçekte devam eden salgında dalgalar halinde farklı mutasyonlar oluşturmaktadır. Salgın, büyük ölçüde havadaki asılı duran damlacıklar ve temasla yayıldığından bireyler arasındaki sosyal mesafe ve kapalı mekanlardaki yetersiz havalandırma konuları öne çıkmıştır. Bu özelliği nedeniyle virüs kaynaklı salgınlar dikkate alınmadan yapılan mekan tasarımları farklı platformlarda sorgulanmaya başlanmıştır. Pandemi sonrası, kent planlanmasından binaların kat sayılarına, eğitim, barınma ve çalışma vb. mekan tasarımlarına değin yapılı çevrelerde değişimler beklenmesine karşın, salgının öğrettiklerinin mimarlık eğitimine nasıl yansıyacağı konusunda tartışmalar yükselmektedir. Mevcut mimari normlarla tasarlanan mekanlar salgına engel olamadığı gibi yayılmasına da neden olduğundan pandemi sırasında da kullanılacak bu mekanların nasıl tasarlanması gerektiği mimarlık okullarında ele alınması beklenmektedir. Makale, mimarlık eğitimindeki mekânsal değişimlerden örnekler vererek sorunun ne denli önemli olduğunu görünür kılmayı hedeflemektedir. A Study for the Effects of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Architectural Education ABSTRACT Recently, we have experienced three viral outbreaks that started with SARS (Covid-1) since 2003. The latest epidemic, Covid-19, was effective in a much wider geography than the others, causing the life and economies of almost the whole world to stop for a long time. The epidemic still continues at different scales in many countries and creates different mutations in waves. Social distancing between individuals and inadequate indoor ventilation have come to the fore, as the epidemic is largely spread by suspended droplets in the air and by contact. Due to this feature, space designs made without considering virus-related epidemics have started to be questioned on different platforms. Although changes are expected in the built environments after the pandemic, from urban planning to space designs such as education, housing and work, discussions are rising about how the teachings of the epidemic will be reflected in architectural education. Since the spaces designed with the current architectural norms do not prevent the epidemic, it is expected that how these spaces to be used during the pandemic should be designed should be discussed in architecture schools. The article aims to make visible how important the problem is by giving examples of spatial changes in architectural education.
