Distopya Kavşağında bir Ütopya: Kanal İstanbul

ÖZET Her ütopik düşünce bir tabula rasa (beyaz sayfa)’dır. Ancak zamanın boyunduruğunda geçen günler, ütopyaların hayal ettirdiği “Altın Çağ”ın bir yanılsama olduğunu insanlara gösterdiği gibi artık distopyalara evrilmiş zorba bir düzen içerisinde yaşamaya mahkûm kılmaktadır. “İdeal Kent” tasarılarının yer aldığı Tabula Rasa’lar; çoğunlukla kirli, obsesif, karamsar ve korku yüklü bir imajlar kompartımanına dönüşmektedir. Antik Çağ’dan günümüze ütopya durakları realitenin deneyimlenmesi ile distopyalara dönüşen ve her defasında kendini tekerrür eden hikâyelerle doludur. Platon’dan, More’a ve yaşadığımız zamana değen tüm ütopistler belki de yanılgının değirmenine su taşımışlardır. Bu makalede; ütopya kavramının tarihsel süreçler içerisinde konumlandığı yer, temsil ettiği düşünceler, ütopya-distopya sarkacı üzerinde konumlanmış kimi uygulamalar ele alınıp yakın zamanın en dikkate değer kentsel objesi durumuna geçen Kanal İstanbul bağlamında bir “Altın Şehir” yaklaşımının karşılık geldiği izlekten el alınarak söz konusu projenin mekân ile kuracağı ilişki temelinde bir okuma gerçekleştirilmeye çalışılmaktadır. An Utopia at the Junction of Dystopia: Istanbul Canal ABSTRACT Every utopian thought is a tabula rasa (white page). However, the days passed under the yoke of time show people that the "Golden Age" imagined by utopias is an illusion, and they are condemned to live in a tyrannical order that has now evolved into dystopias. Tabula Rasa, which includes the draft of the “Ideal City”, principally has turned into a dirty, obsessive, pessimistic and fear-laden images compartment. From antiquity to the present day, the utopia stations are full of stories that transform into dystopias by experience of reality and replicate each time. From Plato to More; all the utopians who had touched the time have perhaps served a delusion. In this article, the place where the concept of utopia is located in historical processes, the ideas it represents, some applications located on the utopia-dystopian pendulum are discussed. In the context of Istanbul Canal, which has become one of the most remarkable urban object of the recent times, it is taken from a theme that corresponds to a "Golden City" approach and it is tried to make a reading on the basis of the relationship that the project establishes with the space.
